Winter Garden aGlow glows nightly from Thanksgiving to early January every year. It’s held at the Idaho Botanical Garden, which is one of my favorite places in Boise and has a brilliant display of over 300,000 lights. My sister and I have been wanting to attend this event for years, but somehow we always find ourselves caught up in holiday parties and never make it. So this year, it was one of the first things we put on our calendars.
We got there right at 6:00 and, similar to any big event that the Botanical Gardens host, they had plenty of people directing traffic. We got our tickets quickly as there was no line when we walked up, and went in to see the show. Katie wanted a coffee, but unfortunately the Dutch Bros was having power issues, so we went in without a hot beverage. They did have a couple stands inside with donuts, kettle corn and cookies, but we decided not to stop for snacks.
The lights were even more incredible than I imagined. We walked through the entire garden and I took several pictures, despite my sister’s comments that I should try to enjoy the lights from beyond the scope of my camera lens. I’m more comfortable with my Nikon Coolpix S9900 now that I’ve had it for a couple months and I was pleased with how my photos turned out.

We’ll definitely be back next year, hopefully when there’s snow on the ground.
